This hotel looks distinctly unpromising when you enter the cramped reception, but the smiles on owners Gianrico and Andrea Scarpa’s faces quickly set you at ease. The rooms are hidden up stairs, down corridors and around corners, and if you don’t get lost it’s an agreeable place to stay.

Gianrico is a painter and many of the pictures that clutter the walls are his. Others have been collected by the family. Look out for the one of Gianrico and his prized parrot; this was done by a student of NYC University who stayed in the hotel. If you don’t initially meet the parrot, Pierrino, request an introduction – he’s a beautiful bird and may even perch on your hand if he likes you. Room No 5 is the one to book in this hotel. It’s the only double with a terrace and the view of the Frari Church campanile (bell tower), and the rooftops of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and surrounding buildings is quite something. The other rooms are basic and practical, but homely. Some have private bathrooms, while others have a shower in the room and a shared toilet.

ARRIVING BY AIR
From the Venice Marco Polo Airport, the ATVO direct shuttle service and the ACTV public transport buses depart every 30 minutes for the Venice bus station Piazzale Roma.From here you can walk, the hotel is 5 minutes distance.
From Treviso airport there are bus ATVO that bring you in Piazzale Roma in about 45 minutes
ARRIVING BY CAR
The nearest parkings are at Piazzale Roma, 5 minutes walk from the hotel.Here there are 2 large parking stations: Garage San Marco and the Garage Comunale also Tronchetto, a large island assigned for parking, has one parking station, and is linked to Piazzale Roma by ACTV buses. One cheaper solutions is available from garage located in Mestre, right in front of the train station of Mestre (the city before Venice) “Garage Stazione” . From here you can take bus n° 2 to Piazzale Roma.
ARRIVING BY TRAIN
From the train station you’ll can walk we are 15 minutes distance, search for “Tolentini” and then San Pantalon.

Author Tip
Almost around the corner from Casa Peron is the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, which is an absolute must for Tintoretto fans or anyone who wants a good introduction to the painter. All of the paintings in the main room were done by the artist, so there’s an incredible unity of style. It’s stunning and its size is much more manageable than larger museums.
